About the role:
We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to help build and scale the API infrastructure powering Chowdeck’s ecosystem - including customer, vendor, and rider applications.
You’ll work on high-load, real-time systems and collaborate closely with product, frontend, and design teams to deliver fast, reliable features in a dynamic startup environment.
Requirements
6+ years of backend development experience
Strong knowledge of Node.js, JavaScript, MySQL
Experience with Redis and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP)
Experience building scalable, high-load systems
Strong focus on clean, maintainable, and testable code
Good problem-solving skills and product thinking
Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain backend APIs and services
Debug and resolve production issues across services
Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability
Collaborate with Product, Frontend, and UX teams
Contribute to architecture decisions and technical improvements
Identify and reduce technical debt (standards, tooling, processes)
Nice to Have
Experience with high-availability systems or distributed architecture
Previous experience in fast-growing startups
Mentoring or tech leadership exposure
